FAQs
Do you have any questions?
We hope you can find the answers here.
Where is your coffee stored?
We utilize four facilities to store our coffee: 1. The Annex in the Bay Area, CA 2. Costa Oro in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA and 3. For less-than-bag amounts (retail sized shipments) the coffee is stored at the Pacifica Renew bag breaking facility in Cedar City, Utah. 4. Our small space in Chinatown Los Angeles (limited storage and availability).
What is your coffee samples policy?
The default sample size is 200g (.44 lb) and come sealed in an Ecotact poly bag. Samples are sold in the website shop for a flat $5 fee plus shipping. If you are a regular LTL customer then we expect to be in regular communication with you directly and will generally send samples for free.
How is the coffee packaged?
All of our bags are packaged to maintain freshness. For whole bags they are jute and have an additional Ecotact protective poly liner. For less-than-bag shipments they are packaged in Ectocat or Grainpro liners and then boxed for shipment.
What are your payment terms?
All orders are 100% pre-payment before shipment. All transaction are in USD
What payment methods do you accept?
All transactions are in USD. For retail (less-than-bag) orders the website offers most typical payment options. For full bag LTL orders we accept ACH, TT Wire, Zelle, Paper checks, and also accept Visa/Mastercard credit cards with a 3.9% transaction fee.
Are there any additional fees?
Retail orders are very straightforward. For LTL orders the situation is case by case, but generally prices given are ExWorks/FOB the facility where the coffee is stored. Some examples of separate line item additional costs would be: -the freight cost from our facility to your door. -the warehouse storage fee if the order is a multi-month off take contract style arrangement. -Visa/Mastercard transaction fee if that payment method is chosen
How often do coffee prices change?
There is no set time for price changes but generally our policy is to adjust the prices as each succeeding harvest becomes available. Note that the C Market is the driving force in the mainstream commodity coffee/commercial coffee market, but since Pacifica Renew is a direct to farm specialty coffee company we do our best to minimize the effects of the speculation and market driven influence of the C Market on how we operate. Therefore our standard process is to discuss with the farmer/wash station what their pricing needs are, after which we get our freight and handling costs determined and then we add that up and have a price to sell to you with. The prices you pay will change only once a given years' crop is completely sold. As the next crop comes in we repeat this process. Our relationship focused importing and wholesaling approach makes what we do more efficient for supporting happy farms, yielding consistent quality coffee and having fun doing what we love!
Do you accept returns?
For merch and brewing gear items we accept returns (refund will be minus shipping/handling costs and a $10 restocking fee) as long as the item is in it's original condition and shipped back to us within 30 days. Customer is responsible for the return shipping. For green coffee shipments we do not accept returns. Exceptions can be made on a case by case scenario, please reach out via the contact page. We want to make sure you are taken care of.
Do you import and sell certififed coffees (Organic/Fairtrade etc)?
Yes sometimes, but not by necessity or by design. First and foremost as a coffee company we hold to the spirit of what we think the various certification groups seek to do. We have relationships with the farms which allows us to directly verify that the pickers and processors are happy and thriving and paid enough to take care of their land, people and the coffee shrubs. We also handle our fright and know our warehousing partners so that we can verify the coffee is properly handled. The practice of paying third parties to certify coffee came about historically in the era of mainstream commercial/commodity coffee business as a somewhat effectual but limited way to try and prevent the coffee buyers, shippers and importers from either themselves seeking profits over human and environmental happiness, or by encouraging the farmers and wash stations to do so. Thankfully the "direct trade" model of relationship centric coffee that has thrived over the past 20 or so years has empowered both the consumers (roasters and cafes) as well as the importers and farmers to work together based shared goals of environmental, coffee quality, prices and human happiness in a way that is not zero sum. we are not perfect about this, but we regularly walk away from new opportunities when they do not have these values at the center of their operations.
How is the coffee shipped?
We arrange delivery to any location in the U.S. and Canada. We ship both LTL and via Parcel (USPS/UPS). For customer that want full bag quantities we ship LTL from coastal warehouses (Annex in the Bay Area or Costa Oro in the Pacific North West). The full bags are palletized and we arrange trucking via 53' Dry Vans delivered to facilities all over the U.S. and Canada. We are able to consolidate bags from other sources that you may have stored at the Annex or Costa Oro. For customers wanting less-than-bag amounts we ship from the Utah bag breaking facility in boxes up to 66lb via USPS/UPS directly to their facility or home.
What is the order turn around average time?

Am I able to arrange my own LTL trucking?
Yes, let us know in advance and we will set the order up accordingly.
Do you ship internationally?
We ship to Canada and U.S. destinations.
Is "Will Call" pick up allowed for coffee orders?
Yes, for full bag orders at the Annex in the Bay Area and less than bag orders at the PR Bag Breaking facility in Southern Utah. if you would like to pick up your coffee order we can arrange will call terms. Let us know in advance.
Is the shipping packaging recyclable or biodegradable?
Yes. Merch and coffee gear is packed with white and brown tissue paper in cardboard boxes which are both biodegradable and recyclable. For green coffee the jute bags are a natural fiber like cotton and hemp etc etc and will biodegrade. The poly liners are are #4 (LDPE—Low Density Polyethylene) recyclable plastic. These lighter 'film" plastics are accepted for recycling at many locations. Check online at places like Earth911 for more information and search the Earth911 database to find a Recycling Center near you.
